The Department of Real Estate and Asset Management is respectfully requesting permission for
the expedited modernization and repairs of the two passenger elevators to bring into full
compliance with current elevator safety codes and A.D.A. requirements that service the Olympia
Center housing tower. As per emergency procurement procedures and as defined in Section
18-90 of the City Code, authorization to use Brouss Elevators which is the lower priced proposal
to waive the requirements to use the company that do not have a contract with the City
in order to secure this asset.
The approval of this emergency waiver is due to life and safety issues and repair severely
outdated equipment that are in desperate need of repair, obsolete, and in very poor condition.
The Olympia Center housing tower is a ten -story 80-unit affordable housing component and the
elevators are required to operate seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. The
elevators are vital to the ongoing operations and provide daily in -out service to our residential
tenants as well as the facility's service/repair use.
Your approval will provide the Procurement Department permission to proceed with the
purchase. Upon your approval, and pursuant to Section 18-90 of the City Code, an item will be
prepared for ratification of this emergency procurement for the next Commission meeting.
