WHEREAS, municipal self-determination and local self-government are constantly under pressure from a variety of public and private interests; and WHEREAS, Florida's municipalities are dependent on other governmental entities for financial stability and support; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has identified its 2022 legislative priorities ("Priorities") and requests the support of the Florida Legislature regarding the Priorities; and WHEREAS, Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida's House and Senate leaders have an opportunity to address the concerns of the City and other municipalities during the upcoming 2022 legislative session; and WHEREAS, the Florida Congressional Delegation also has an opportunity to address the concerns of the residents of the City during the 118t" Session of the United States Congress; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Resolution. Section 2. The City Commission hereby adopts Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, as the City's Priorities for the 2022 legislative session. Section 3. The City Commission urges Governor Ron DeSantis and the members of the Florida Legislature to support the City's Priorities during the 2022 legislative session. Section 4. The City Commission further urges the Florida Congressional Delegation to support the City's Priorities during the 1181" Session of the United States Congress. Section 5. The City Commission directs the City Clerk to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Governor Ron DeSantis, Speaker of the House Chris Sprowls, Senate President Wilton Simpson, the Members of the Miami -Dade County Legislative Delegation, and the Florida Congressional Delegation. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
