A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION SUPPORTING THE STATE OF
ISRAEL, OUR PRIMARY ALLY AND ONLY DEMOCRACY IN THE MIDDLE EAST, IN
SUPPORT OF ISRAEL'S RIGHT TO PROTECT AND DEFEND ITS RESIDENTS
FROM THE BARRAGE OF THOUSANDS OF MISSILES AND DRONES THAT HAVE
BEEN TARGETING ISRAEL'S CIVILIAN POPULATION SINCE MONDAY, MAY 10,
2021 BY TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE HAMAS ALONG WITH
OTHER IRANIAN FINANCED TERRORIST GROUPS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK
TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS STATED
HEREIN.
WHEREAS, on May 12, 2021, reports have shown that United States President Joseph
R. Biden, Jr. ("President Biden") supports the State of Israel's ("Israel") right to defend itself from
the barrage of missiles being launched against Israel's civilian population by Hamas/Yihad and
other terrorist groups financed by Iran; and
WHEREAS, according to the news media, President Biden has stated "expectations and
hope are that this will be closing down sooner than later, but Israel has a right to defend itself
when you have thousands of rockets flying into your territory"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is adopting this Resolution based on President Biden's
aforementioned support to Israel; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-33(f) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida,
as amended, the City Commission, by a majority vote, hereby deems this Resolution to be of an
emergency nature;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission supports Israel's right to protect and defend its
residents from the barrage of thousands of missiles and drones that have been targeting its
civilian population by terrorist organizations such as the Hamas and other Iranian -financed
terrorist groups.
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to United
States Senators for Florida Rick Scott and Marco Rubio; President of the United States
Conference of Mayors Greg Fischer; all members of the United States Conference of Mayors;
all members of the South Florida Congressional Delegation; and United States Senate Foreign
Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
