BACKGROUND
The City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative to address poverty and focus on providing
support to its residents.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. (Organization) Services for the Elderly which
accommodates the elderly at the Myers Senior Center. This allocation will allow the entity to continue
providing breakfast and lunch to seniors five days a week. These funds are additional to the $123,943.06
provided to the entity in Resolution No. R-20-0385 for this program. This will bring the total program
allocation to $159,035.53.
As the Organization is familiar with the needs of the community and the district, it would be advantageous
for the City to expedite the allocation and waive procurement requirements at this time. Providing these
funds to the Organization will allow local seniors to obtain these services without interruption, with no
added time for the procurement process, which could take over 30-40 days.
RECOMMENDATION

as amended, specifically Section 18-85 (A), and the affirmation of these written findings and the forwarding
of these ate to the City Commission for ratification by a four -fifths vote is respectfully requested.
