A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO
SECTION 18-82(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED, CLASSIFYING ONE (1) FORD E350 ECONOLINE CARGO VAN,
MODEL YEAR 1991, BEARING VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
1 FTJE34G6MHB41354, AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK; AUTHORIZING
THE DONATION OF SAID VEHICLE TO THE MIAMI POLICE BENEVOLENT
ASSOCIATION, INC. FOR DISPLAY IN ITS POLICE MUSEUM; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY
AND ALL AGREEMENTS NECESSARY, ALL IN FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO EFFECTUATE SAID DONATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") owns one (1) 1991 Ford E350 Econoline Cargo
Van bearing Vehicle Identification Number 1 FTJE34G6MHB41354 ("Vehicle") currently
assigned to the Miami Police Department ("MPD") that has not been driven in many years; and
WHEREAS, the Vehicle was converted to a video surveillance platform in the 1990s and
assigned to MPD's Special Investigations Section; and
WHEREAS, the approximate value of the Vehicle is currently between $2,000.00 and
$3,000.00 and contains small inoperative monitors, cameras, and videocassette records which
are all obsolete after 29 years; and
WHEREAS, MPD housed the Vehicle in a secured and covered storage space which
allowed it to remain in good condition; however, the Vehicle has not served its intended purpose
in many years; and
WHEREAS, the City's Chief Procurement Officer has declared the Vehicle as Category
"A" surplus stock; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), surplus stock declared as Category "A" shall be available for disposition
as the City's contribution or the City's commitment in support of a particular public purpose,
which may include those community, civic, or social service programs as may be authorized by
the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Police Benevolent Association, Inc. ("PBA") is a Florida Not for
Profit corporation comprised of MPD veterans which performs community, civic, and social
programs and is qualified to receive surplus stock from the City; and
WHEREAS, the PBA will use the Vehicle for the sole purpose of displaying it in the
PBA's police museum for preservation of MPD's history and public education; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends adoption of this Resolution allowing the City
to donate the Vehicle to the PBA for display in its police museum;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the City Code, the Vehicle is classified as
Category "A" surplus stock.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to donate the Vehicle to the PBA to be
placed on display in the PBA's police museum.
Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
agreements necessary, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate said donation.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
