FOR A POTENTIAL DONATION OF TEN MILLION DOLLARS ($10,000,000.00) TO INVEST IN PARK SPACE IN THE CITY OF MIAMI; SAID NEGOTIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE PUBLIC MEETINGS, SHALL INCLUDE THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA AND THE OMNI REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AND SHALL DISCUSS PUBLIC ACCESS IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY TO THE DONATED PARK SPACE; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO BRING THE RESULTS OF THE NEGOTIATIONS TO THE CITY COMMISSION AT A FUTURE MEETING. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") recognizes the value in having public park spaces within the City; and WHEREAS, the David and Leila Centner Family Foundation ("Foundation") has expressed a desire to donate funds to the City which will be used to either acquire, renovate, or maintain City parks; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes the City should invest more in City parks and the donation expressed by the Foundation could be substantial to the City's parks; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wants public input into the use and terms of the donation to ensure public participation in the City's direction of City parks; and WHEREAS, the terms of any donation by the Foundation are not certain; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the City to authorize the City Manager to take any and all actions to facilitate and negotiate the donation in an amount of $10,000,000.00 for public park space and require public meetings which shall include the School Board of Miami -Dade County, Florida ("School Board") and the Omni Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency ("OMNI CRA"); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager to take any and all actions to facilitate and negotiate the donation of $10,000,000.00 for public park space and require public meetings which shall include the School Board and OMNI CRA from the Foundation. Section 3. The City Manager shall bring the results of the negotiations and meetings to the City Commission at a future City Commission meeting. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
