Type: Resolution
Subject: Approve Extension - Miami 21 Report Adhoc Task Force
Purpose of Item:
The purpose of this item is to extend the deadline for delivery of the Miami 21 Code
Report to the City Commission.
Background of Item:
On December 12, 2019, City Commission directed the City Manager and City
administration to conduct a comprehensive review the City's Zoning Ordinance, Miami
21, and deliver a Miami 21 Code Report ("Report"). To assist in that effort, Commission
created a 12-member task force called the Miami 21 Report Ad Hoc Task Force ("Task
Force"). Due to several unexpected complexities associated with the Task Force,
including the challenge of holding meetings during COVID-19, the original 180-day
deadline for the Report is untenable. The Planning Department is confident that an
extension to the second Commission meeting in June of 2021 is sufficient time to
complete and deliver the Report.
