HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-20-0347City of Miami City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Legislation Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Resolution: R-20-0347 File Number: 7987 Final Action Date: 10/22/2020 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,104,350.00, WITH NO MATCHING FUNDS REQUIRED FROM THE CITY OF MIAM AWARDED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, TO THE -RESCUE TO BE USED FOR THE TRAINING OF PERSONNEL IN SPECIALIZED RAPID INTERVENTION SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 28, 2021; FURTHER ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL -2019 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS OF THE SAME; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, ALL IN FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE ACCEPTANCE, IMPLEMENTATION OF, AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT AWARD. artment of Fire-Rescue has been awarded grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management training of personnel in specialized rapid intervention survival techniques; and WHEREAS, the Grant Award requires no matching funds from the City; and WHEREAS, the Grant Award will be placed in Account No.11000.184010.431000.0000.00000; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to accept the Grant Award, establish a Special Revenue Project, and authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, for the acceptance, implementation of, and compliance with the Grant Award and to appropriate the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Manager is authorized to accept the Grant Award, with no matching funds required from the City, from FEMA for -Rescue to be used for the training of personnel in specialized rapid intervention survival techniques for the period beginning September 29, 2020 and ending September 28, 2021. Section 3. The following Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: FY 2019 Assistant to Firefighters Grant Program RESOURCES: FEMA $1,104,350.00 APPROPRIATIONS: $1,104,350.00 Section 4. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, for the acceptance, implementation of, and compliance with the Grant Award. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and 2 signature of the Mayor. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
