WHEREAS, Section 165.043, Florida Statutes, authorizes the governing body of a municipality, by ordinance, to designate an official municipal seal and prohibits the unauthorized use, manufacture, display, and other employment of any facsimile or reproduction of the municipal seal without the express written approval of the governing body; and WHEREAS, on March 22, 2018, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 13750, which designated the official seal of the City of Miami ("City") pursuant to Section 165.043, Florida Statutes, and established regulations for the use of the City Seal; and WHEREAS, on October 8, 2020, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 13930, which allowed the use of alternate seals and logos on limited occasions; and WHEREAS, a modernized design which includes but is not limited to color updates of the City Seal has been created to highlight today's City, which is vibrant and attractive, but not too contrasting to the City Seal's traditional outline; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to allow the use of the alternative seals and logos as depicted in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, as alternate seals of the City; and WHEREAS, the alternate seals and logos authorized herein shall be afforded the same regulations and use of the Official City Seal as provided in Section 1-16 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The use of the alternate seals and logos as depicted in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, are authorized pursuant to Section 1-16(c) of the City Code. Section 3. The established regulations afforded in Chapter 1 of the City Code shall apply to the alternate seals and logos authorized herein. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: Pursuant to the resolution, this item became effective immediately upon adoption by the Commission.
