This award does not require any local match. Background of Item: The City of Miami submitted a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and was awarded $914,031. This grant award will provide funding to include but not limited to overtime, equipment (law enforcement and personal medical protective gears), hiring, supplies (such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training and travel expenses particularly related to the distribution of resources to the most affected areas of the coronavirus pandemic. This grant is awarded for a period covering January 1, 2020, through January 31, 2022. This award does not require any local match. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance ("BJA") and was awarded $914,031.00 ("Grant"); and WHEREAS, the Grant will provide funding to include, but not be limited to, overtime, equipment (law enforcement and personal medical protective gear), hiring, supplies (such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training, and travel expenses particularly related to the distribution of resources to the most affected areas of the Novel Coronavirus ("Covid-19") pandemic; and WHEREAS, the Grant does not require any local match; and WHEREAS, the Grant is awarded for the period of January 1, 2020 through January 31, 2022; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept the Grant from the BJA in the amount of $914,031.00 to support a broad range of activities to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Covid-19 pandemic. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: BJA FY 20 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program RESOURCES: Department of Justice/Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance $914,031.00 APPROPRIATION: Support to Prevent, Prepare for, and Respond to the Coronavirus $914,031.00 Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Grant, in substantially the attached form, with the BJA for said purpose. Section 5. The City Manager is further authorized' to designate the Chief of Police to execute any and all other necessary documents, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance, administration of, and compliance with said Grant. Section 6. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
