DUTIES: Works in a position that involves advanced professional and technical work enforcing
the City of Miami's Zoning Code, sign ordinance and other related regulations, laws, statutes and
ordinances. Duties includes evaluating work involving the application of skilled technical
knowledge and judgment in examining plans, and other specifications while interacting directly
with the public.
Essential functions includes examining large and complex projects plans, interpreting and
enforcing all applicable zoning codes, ordinances, and other related laws, reviewing plans and
providing project representatives with reasons explaining the deficiencies, calculating all
applicable fees for project, and informing project representative of such determinations in writing,
reviewing and advising project representatives of preliminary permitting information such as:
permits, zones, hearing processes, and all other zoning issues needed for projects to be permitted

and suggest changes to existing information, reviewing and analyzing legal descriptions of
proposed projects against zoning maps, plats, and other resources utilizing appropriate software,
assisting with making recommendations in changing ordinances and regulations relative to the
Zoning Ordinance and other City Codes. In addition, I have researched that the project has been
reviewed by all required board's or committees and complies with any additional regulations that
may apply to a project such as a Special District and Historic Regulations.
I further analyze zoning applications for land development permits and I and prepare written
recommendations for appropriate action. Work also involves attending Board, Committee and City
Commission meetings representing the Office of Zoning when necessary. Assists with developing
and implementing zoning procedures and policies in order to improve office efficiency, conducts
field investigations to assure projects are within compliance of zoning regulations and applicable
permits, assists other staff members with interpreting and implementing the zoning code of other

plans. Review tax cards and microfilmed records for zoning information and/or compliance issues.
Process, review and approve Certificate of Use applications. Process, review and approve
applications for Accessory Use permits. Assign new addresses and process address changes.
Assist NET Inspectors and Administrators with zoning related information. Prepare technical
write-up for Class II Special permit referrals. Process Class I Special permits. Review and refer
