HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-20-0192City of Miami 1 i.RR cl Legislation alldl 1 l + Resolution: R-20-0192 File Number: 7421 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 7/9/2020 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A SECOND DONATION FROM THE WYNWOOD BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ("WYNWOOD BID") IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED NINETY- NINE DOLLARS AND EIGHTY-ONE CENTS ($117,999.81) TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT TITLED "THE WYNWOOD BID SECURITY SYSTEM PHASE TWO;" ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS TO THE MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT'S ("MPD") SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ACCOUNT NUMBER 12000.191501.466000.0.0 FOR THE PROVISION OF THIRTY-THREE (33) CAMERAS AND ONE (1) LICENSE PLATE READER AS A SECOND PHASE EXPANSION PROJECT WITHIN THE WYNWOOD BID AREA AND INTEGRATION INTO MPD'S REAL TIME CRIME CENTER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO APPROVE THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS ALLOCATED TO THE PROJECT AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, ALL IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE DISPERSAL OF PROJECT FUNDS. WHEREAS, the Wynwood Business Improvement District ("Wynwood BID") seeks to continue to increase public safety and the quality of life for business owners and visitors to the businesses within the Wynwood BID area; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 19-0266 adopted on July 11, 2019, the Wynwood BID donated one hundred eighty-one thousand, thirty-four dollars and thirty-seven cents ($181,034.37) to the City of Miami ("City") to be utilized by the Miami Police Department ("MPD") for the purchase of forty-eight (48) security cameras and two (2) license plate readers installed within the Wynwood BID area; and WHEREAS, on October 11, 2019, the Wynwood BID's Board of Directors approved an additional funding amount of one hundred seventeen thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine dollars and eighty-one cents ($117,999.81) to be utilized for the purchase of thirty-three (33) cameras and one (1) license plate reader from an existing City vendor to be installed as part of the phase two expansion of the security camera network ("Project") within the Wynwood BID area; and WHEREAS, the acceptance of this additional donation will be beneficial to the City by providing the MPD with additional resources in an effort to curtail or prevent crime in the Wynwood BID, including but not limited to robberies, assaults, and burglaries; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 7421 (Revision:) Printed On: 7/30/2020 File ID: 7421 Enactment Number: R-20-0192 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept a donation from the Wynwood BID in the amount of one hundred seventeen thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine dollars and eighty-one cents ($117,999.81) for the Project. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate said funds to MPD's Special Revenue Fund Account Number 12000.191501.466000.0.0 to be utilized by MPD for the Project within the Wynwood BID area and its integration into MPD's Real Time Crime Center. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to designate the Chief of Police to approve the expenditure of funds and execute any and all necessary documents, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for the dispersal of funds for the Project. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 "na dez, City Attar iey 6/1/2020 ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
