HomeMy WebLinkAboutOSPB Resolution and ResumeTO: Honorable Chairperson and Members of the Off -Street Parking Board FROM: Alejandra Argudin, Chief Executive Officer, Miami Parking Authority SUBJECT: Reappointment of Mr. Thomas Jelke to the Board of Directors -Resolution No: 20-03 DATE: May 6, 2020 Attached for your approval, please find Resolution No. 20-03 reappointing Mr. Thomas Jelke to the Department of Off -Street Parking of the City of Miami Board of Directors ("Board"). Mr. Jelke's term of office as a member of the Board will expire, unless affirmed by the City Commission. Pursuant to Section 23(b) of the City of Miami Charter, Mr. Jelke shall be named and reappointed by the remaining members of the Board for a term of five (5) years, subject to confirmation by the City Commission, within ten (10) days after notice of such appointment. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Jelke has served the Board with distinction and superior leadership. Therefore, MPA staff respectfillly requests the reappointment of Mr. Jelke to the Department of Off -Street Parking Board Directors for a new term of five (5) years as provided in Section 23(b) of the City of Miami Charter. RESOLUTION NO. 20-03 A RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING THOMAS JELKE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING BOARD OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AND RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY OF MIAMI COMMISSION THAT THE REAPPOINTMENT BE CONFIRMED FOR A TERM OF FIVE (5) YEARS FROM THE CITY COMMISSION AFFIRMATION, EXPIRING ON MAY 14, 2025. WHEREAS, the term of office for Mr. Thomas Jelke, as a member of The Department Off -Street Parking Board of the City of Miami ("Board"), will expire unless his appointment by the Board is not confirmed by the City of Miami Commission ("City Commission"); and WHEREAS, throughout his tenure with the Board, Mr. Jelke has performed his duties and obligations with integrity, devotion and superior leadership; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 23(b) of the City of Miami Charter, Mr. Jelke is eligible for reappointment by the remaining members of the Board for a term of five years, subject to confirmation by the City Commission within ten (10) days after notice of such reappointment by the Board; and WHEREAS, the Board held a duly noticed public meeting on May 6, 2020, and reappointed Mr. Jelke to the Board, for a term of five (5) years; and WHEREAS, the Board respectfully requests that the City Commission approve the reappointment of Mr. Jelke for a term of five (5) years, to continue to serve as an invaluable asset to the Department of Off -Street Parking of the City of Miami d/b/a Miami Parking Authority. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING BOARD OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA. Section 1. Mr. Thomas Jelke is hereby reappointed as a member of the Department of Off- Street Parking Board of the City of Miami, Florida, pursuant to Section 23(b) of the City of Miami Charter, for the term of five (5) years expiring on May 14, 2025.
