Background of Item: On April 6, 2020 the Department of Housing and Community Development ("HCD") received a letter from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") announced special allocation to be granted to the City of Miami ("City"), in the total amount of $6,598,623.00. These allocations were authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health crisis. The City Administration recommends accepting HUD special grant funds in the total amount of $6,598,623 for the following programs in the following amounts: (1) $3,281,526 Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG-CV") program (2) $1,633,034 Emergency Solutions Grants ("ESG-CV") program (3) $1,684,063 Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program for fiscal year 2020, for eligible activities under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Securities Act ("CARES"); for the purpose of prevent, prepare for, or response to the coronavirus (Covid-19). Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: l i ria i "ndez, City Attor iey 4/1412020 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all lega requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
