Subject: Execute MOU - ISEECHANGE
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission with attachments, authorizing the City
Manager to negotiate and execute a memorandum of understanding ("MOU") between
the City of Miami and ISeeChange. Further authorizing the City Manager to enter into a
non -monetary agreement for education, data gathering, collaboration and to negotiate
and execute all other necessary amendments, extensions and modifications, after
consultation with the City attorney for said purposes.
Background of Item:
The Knight Foundation has agreed to support the work of Kumari Media, LLC
(ISEECHANGE) in Miami in partnership with the City of Miami to leverage climate and
weather data as a meaningful dialogue between residents and municipal officials. The
Office of Resilience and Sustainability has recognized the need for both hyperlocal
weather and climate data and resident -sourced knowledge for climate adaptation to
augment current resilience planning efforts. ISeeChange (ISC) will leverage its digital
and creative engagement platforms for a pilot project to collect hyperlocal climate data
and to equitably engage residents to inform the City of Miami Stormwater Master Plan.
Additionally, the pilot will help build collective knowledge in communities to raise
awareness about climate impacts and resilience solutions.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND
KUMARI MEDIA, LLC, A FLORIDA LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY DOING BUSINESS
AS ISEECHANGE ("ISEECHANGE"), FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING
EDUCATION, DATA GATHERING, AND COLLABORATION RELATED TO LOCAL
WEATHER AND CLIMATE DATA; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY
AMENDMENTS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS TO THE AGREEMENT, ALL
IN FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY. WITH ISEECHANGE FOR SAID
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Office of Resilience and Sustainability has recognized the need for
both hyperlocal weather and climate data and resident -sourced knowledge for climate
adaptation to augment current resilience planning efforts; and
WHEREAS, the intent of this collaboration is to mobilize communities to collect and
share their own climate stories, photographs, and weather measurements to illustrate
community -scale climate trends and create actionable recommendations for stormwater
planning and design; and
WHEREAS, the Knight Foundation has agreed to support the work of Kumari
Media, LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as ISeeChange
("ISeeChange"), in partnership with the City of Miami ("City") to leverage climate and
weather data as a meaningful dialogue between residents and municipal officials; and
WHEREAS, the City and ISeeChange wish to formalize such a partnership and
have ISeeChange provide its services to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City is not receiving Knight Foundation grant funds or any
monetary consideration and there is no corresponding obligation to expend City funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized' to negotiate and execute an
agreement without monetary consideration paid by the City, in a form acceptable to the City

imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Attorney, between the City and ISeeChange for education, data gathering, and collaboration
related to local climate and weather data.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
other necessary amendments, extensions, and modifications, all in forms acceptable to the City
Attorney, with ISeeChange for said purposes.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
